A single man.

Adult women have a million questions but are scared of asking me any questions let a lone relationship questions because they don’t want to come across as insensitive. So I thought it would be interesting to answer some questions that some women feel uncomfortable asking like “why am I single?”. Right here and now, I have a bullet list of 50 questions and answers below to to find out why I am not a typical single guy. It would be very helpful if you can think of more questions that I can add, email your questions and comments, I promise that I will not use your name; I just want some more interesting questions.

This page is only for adults; I know this is a boring looking page but I did “A Single Man” this way on purpose so people can read about relationship Q & A’s without being distracted with pictures and links.

  • What do you look like?  I am not as good looking as Brad Pitt, however, he does not have a wash board stomach without the work out like I do! I am definitely not over weight and have blue eyes. Happiness is up to you; but sharing our life’s with a caring and loving partner is amazing and can bring you true happiness. I believe trust, open communication and appreciation are very important in a relationship, also feeling comfortable talking and laughing with each other. I definitely can make you laugh, am an attentive listener and am also willing to show my feelings.
  • How did you manage to break into comedy and being a landlord? About 17 years ago I went to the comedy connection in Portland with my best friend. There was a flyer about a comedy workshop; I thought that it sounded fun, so I signed up. The teacher kept on making up excuses for why I couldn’t be in the class, like its already filled up, the stage has a step, the building has steps, and on, and on. I finally got in after calling the owner. After the 8 week workshop was over the teacher loved me!! He saw that I was really funny after he gave me a chance. It was a lot like some women, never giving me a chance. At the graduation show he gave me more time than anybody else in the class. I have been doing stand-up comedy ever since, I love it!  I have been a landlord for over 25 years, I enjoy it most days and it is my income as well.
  • What are you doing now? I have been busy, busy, busy, now I have 9 units for travelers and last month they were all full. Work, work, work, it never ends but I like it and it keeps me busy. Sometimes travelers say weird things, such as, I got an email from a traveler, she said, “My bed keeps moving, can you fix it?” Another one for my act.  I’ve only performed my unique comedy act twice in four years because of COVID. Also, my business takes a lot of time, but business is good and I enjoy meeting travelers from all over the U.S. Both of my buildings are over one hundred years old so they need a lot of updating. So, I am really happy that I decided to change my business around four years ago, to renting to traveling professionals that work at the hospitals. One of my buildings is one mile away from the hospitals so it makes it convenient for the travelers. Too bad I didn’t think of that 25 years ago. I would be retired by now in Hawaii. But oh well.
  • What turns you off? Smokers, drinkers, drugs, there are so many things that can go wrong with your body, why encourage it by smoking, drinking, using drugs, and not eating healthy? Also, I do not like or have time for liars, drama and head games.
  • Do you have siblings?  Yes a sister.  She is happily married with three boys.
  • Why do you like Hallmark movies? Movies take people away for a couple of hours and remind your life is what you make it.  Someday hopefully I can watch romantic sappy hallmark movies with someone that wants the same things.
  • Who made and updates your website and schedules all of your bookings?  Some landlords use a company to manage their apartments but unfortunately most of them do not do things like you would.  So, I designed and update my website and schedule all of my bookings myself, as well as manage my 14 apartments.
  • Tell me about your last relationship? I did have some relationships but to be honest with you, I never had a comfortable one. Not because I didn’t want one, it was more because they did not want to bother to take the time to get to know me as a person. One way relationships never work, both people have to be open to different ideas and abilities. Everyone looks at things from a different perspective. For an example of a different perspective, somebody was staying with a tenant in one of my buildings without my permission and without paying extra, they think it is perfectly fair and I definitely do not think it is fair at all. This is why congress can’t get anything done, everyone has a different perspective. So, I’d rather be single, then in a one-sided relationship.
  • What are you really looking for in a single woman?  Companionship is important in our lives but it is definitely not the only thing that is important in a relationship. A happy personality is very important to me and we should enjoy each other’s company. Also, She needs to be trustworthy and an open communicator; we should feel comfortable talking and laughing with each other.  We need to be appreciative of each other for who we really are. These things are very important in any relationship; I do not want to end up in a bad relationship so I pay more attention to the above things.
  • What makes you sad?  My father passed away on January 12th, 2014 of esophageal cancer and it seems like it was last week. Like everyone, I have a real hard time with death but the last thing my Dad told me was, “When I am gone you can take a big sigh of relief because I won’t be in any more pain.” Life is very hard to understand. I had a friend for 40 years and one day she calasped in her class room and a year later she died of Brain Cancer 2019. I’ve gotten to know wonderful people over the years, one of them was Tina White and her family. July 22nd 2022 Tina helped me like usual, as she did for a year, and the next day she was with God. I am trying to stay busy and trying not to think about the senseless tragedy that never should have happened. One day at a time, like her husband Leon is doing. He was in the Christmas show at their church like every year. Staying busy helps a little bit. I am still having a hard time so I can’t imagine what the family is going through.
  • What are your favorite foods, movies and TV shows…?  Favorite foods: Apple Crisp, Chocolate Cake with ice cream, strawberry shortcake, pork or beef roast with carrots, potatoes and onions in the crock pot with gravy, Philly steak with green peppers, onions and mushrooms on a toasted sub roll, rotisserie chicken in my rotisserie, Philly steak with Alfredo over egg noodles, squash, string beans. Chicken thighs marinated in BBQ sauce on the outside grill. My favorite movies are: Jerry Maguire, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, Fever Pitch, Mr. Holland’s Opus, As Good As It Gets and Good Will Hunting. My favorite movie is When Harry met Sally believe it or not!! Favorite things to watch on TV: Hallmark movies, Soxs, Celtics, Pats, Parenthood, and Shark Tank. I watched the Boston Red Sox win the Eastern Division Championship on my new 70 inch TV. Some times Bigger is Better!! Ha, Ha, Ha.
  • What was the one event that gave you your ‘break’?  I have performed at over 200 comedy shows, but I am still waiting for my BIG break.I spoke at 2 Graduations a few June’s ago. That was fun! Also, I started to headliner at comedy shows and hopefully someday soon I can open for Bob Marley.
  • What do you like to do in the summer time?   Summer goes way too fast so I try to do some things that I enjoy. My sister is a kindergarden teacher so I see her and her three kids a little bit more in the summer. A few summers ago, I saw a college friend at his camp and saw his brother and his new baby. What a treat. I saw another college friend that summer and wrote a joke about it. “A college friend asked me to go to a party. When I got there, I saw 10 kids running around and parents pulling their hair out. I said “what the —- is this shit”! What happened to the party? He said that this is how we party now 25 years after college. Ha, Ha, Ha.” He thought it was funny and it is true. I saw another friend of forty years at her camp and she talked me into going into the water.
  • What do you like to do?  Spending time with the person that I am seeing is very important to me.  Why date someone, when you hardly see them?  I also enjoy spending time with my mother, my sister and her family.  As you know everyone’s life is very busy so seeing my best friend and other friends is very hard. When I am not doing these things, I am usually watching the Pats, Celts, Sox or Hallmark movies on my new 70 inch TV.
  • What do you think of single dating sites?  Over the years, I wasted a lot of money on match.com, e-harmony.com and other dating sites. They are ok, I guess, but people rarely write back because they only have a free profile not a paid membership.
  • I am tired of going out with typical single guys, why are you not a typical single guy?  I am definitely not a typical single guy, not because all I have done, but all I have done while having cerebral palsy. People say that I am inspirational or inspiring but I am just living my life. I have goals, and wants just like everybody else. I am a college graduate and have a successful business, but people still see my disability first. This does get frustrating sometimes, but it is just life.
  • Do you think personality is very important in finding the right man for you?  Live, laugh, love; 3 simple words, but why are they so hard to find? Some men are scared of commitment; I am not. I would like to meet an amazing woman that knows what is important in a relationship. I’m looking for someone who is down-to-earth and genuine, who values personality as much as I do, someone who I can make a connection with on a deeper level. I am straight forward, and honest so I thought that you should know this. Let me know your thoughts.
  • You sound like a great guy, why are you single?  People are scared of the unknown so they keep trying the same thing hoping to get a different result. Sometimes we have to look outside the box to find true happiness.
  • Does your humor come from dealing with your disease?  Most definitely, but cerebral palsy is not a disease. Some of my jokes are about my experiences with CP, but to be a real comedian you have to have other material as well.
  • Out of idle curiosity, what is your favorite memory of your college days, and you are allowed more than one? I was at the Univ. of Maine when Cindy Blodgett and Amy Vachon and all of the other great players were there. They had 5,000 fans there at every home game, the place was rocking. One year the coach said I can go in the locker room to listen to her halftime speech if you want. She might not have meant all season, but oh well! That was quite an experience, Stephen King couldn’t even do that, he was at every home game too. At one game he asked me to come up to his spectator box to watch the game with him. That was fun but I had better seating down on the floor in the first row. I also enjoyed getting to know my roommates, friends and helpers.
  • Do you like foreplay and intimacy?   Yes, most definitely. Who doesn’t?
  • Have you ever had a romantic relationship with an assistant? No because I like to keep it separated.  But many of them turn into friends.
  • Would you expect a person you’re dating to work for you?  No way.  I would expect a woman I’m involved with to have her own career, and I wouldn’t want to step in the way of that. I would want her to do what makes her happy.
  • I’m assuming you are confined to a wheelchair, correct?  I am not confined to a wheelchair but I do have a power wheelchair. “Once you had a man in a wheelchair you never go back to regular guys”. I heard this very interesting quote on a documentary. I am a comedian but this is not a joke, I did hear it on a documentary. As Donald Trump would say, is it fake news or real news?  Who knows?
  • Do you need home care or assistance?  I would say a little bit of both. However, I have been living on my own for over 20 years.  I got my business degree and am an owner and manager of 14 apartments. The other day, I heard on the news, $45,000 is the average credit card debt. That is scary. I have zero debt.
  • Do you have any kids? No, but my sister has three great boys and a great husband.
  • Why do you think women date or marry ass holds?  Great question, I asked myself the same question for years. I have no idea so I asked many people about this and they all said “no idea”. So, I Googled it. “Their are many possible reasons women or men date or marry ass holes like low self esteem, cannot be alone, grew up in a dysfunctional home, not willing or able to stick up for herself or himself and many more reasons that we all have witnessed.” Very sad!
  • Are you religious?  Not really.
  • What is your favorite holiday and why? Thanksgiving because the food, family and remembering to be thankful for our health as well as many other things.
  • How old are you and what age are you looking for?  I am 52 and looking for someone single in there 40’s.
  • Can you show feelings?  I feel like I am better at this then most man.
  • Do you like intimacy and can you pleasure me both mentally and physically?  Yes.
  • How do you compare yourself to other guys? I can’t answer that because I might be biased so I Googled it. “32% of men graduated from college, about 49% of Americans are in debt, 29% own their homes free and clear and 22% of men treated women bad in a relationship.”  Having all three of these qualities is very rare, I did graduate from college, no debt, own my home free and clear, I also always treat women with respect.
  • Can you understand me?  Yes.
  • Can I understand you?  Yes.
  • What is your favorite music? Country and Oldies.
  • Do you know how to cook?  Yes.
  • How do you treat your lover? The same way I want to be treated, with respect.
  • If you had three wishes from a genie, what would you wish for?  Cure Cancer, have a healthy relationship and cure Alzheimer’s.
  • What is your personality?  Easygoing and with lots of humor.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?  Hawaii, because I like nice weather and beautiful women. But, better then, New York on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to do my act for my big break.
  • What do you call a woman with no asshole?  A divorced woman and a very smart, single woman!
  • Do you like politics?  I am not a big fan of politics, however in the past year it’s gotten a little bit more interesting. I think Melania Trump should put her foot down, and ban her husband from Twitter. “No more whoopee until you can show me you can play nicely on Twitter.” Donald Trump is a business man, so in my mind, he should have a plan to balance the national debt which is $20,590,391,942,312 then comes tax reform that does not add to the national debt. Unfortunately, the government never put these things high priority.  Four years later and the national debt is still out of control with an eighty something year old president. Most people retire at 65 or before to enjoy life and let the younger people take over. We should make everything we can in this country including oil and other forms of energy so we don’t have to be dependant on other countries for our basic needs.
  • Seen any good movies lately?  Yes, I saw Wonder and I Can Only Imagine. They were excellent and I hope they will win many awards.
  • Are you a morning person or a night owl?  I am not a morning person.
  • Do you like tattoos?  I am not a big fan of tattoos so I do not have any.
  • If you could be a character in any movie, who would you be?  Jimmy Fallon in Fever Pitch.
  • Are you a kiss and tell guy or keep your relationship to yourself guy?  Keep it to myself; my relationship is no one’s business.
  • Are you against public signs of affection or proud of your woman?  Proud of the person I’m in a relationship with.
  • Do you have any favorite traditions in your family?  Meat-pies called tourtiere on Christmas Eve before midnight Mass and after with family and friends. As my Memere (grandmother in French) called it, reveillon, a lavish dinner party with singing that lasts into the wee hours. Over the years, unfortunately many people are no longer with us but thanks to my sister she kept the tradition alive.
  • Do you like the snow and the cold weather?  No way.
  • Do you think there are any perfect, single men out there?  If we think about it, most men have a disability of some kind like, can’t cook, do not know how to do laundry or not being there for you mentally and physically.
  • So, why are you single?  Preconceived thoughts on both sides. So, I hope these questions and answers help.
  • Is there any question that would make you embarrassed or make you feel uncomfortable?  No.
