Job Description Summary:

Traveling professionals or someone that live in Turner or around Turner, Maine. (((No required mandates)))  Unique and rewarding job because you are not just a number, you are a person with wants, needs and goals just like me. Starting ASAP.

No experience needed but a Jack or Jill of all trades helps!!! 5 to 30 hours per week depending on your schedule.  I am a unique landlord with Cerebral Palsy and a business degree, that rents to traveling professionals. In my spare time I perform stand-up comedy and work to improve my two YouTube channels (a Comedy Channel and an Educational Channel). But 99% of the time we will be working on my traveling professional business.

Finding helpers has always been difficult but the last couple years it’s become impossible to find good, reliable and responsible assistants that I can trust. I have been thinking about trying something different, and maybe hiring a traveling professional on their days off or just hirer full-time. The problem with this is I don’t need an RN or anything to that degree, I just need someone who can help me with my activities of daily living and with my business. Most of my assistants that I had over the years, had no titles after their name. This job is a very unique and rewarding opportunity for anyone and you get to see Maine if you’ve never been before! I would like someone that lives in Turner, Maine or around Turner, Maine because of gas prices. The other day I bought a new queen bed for one of my units and they delivered it on their horse and buggy, they can’t afford gas anymore.

Essential Functions:

  • Assisting with getting ready for the day, light housekeeping, cooking, eating, and typing.
  • Assistance with managing rental properties. Activities might include calling repair people, typing, getting the units ready, lawn mowing, shoveling, and general cleanup etc.
  • Driving to appts, motivational speaking presentations, comedy shows, etc.
    Additional responsibilities as required.

As you see, it is very basic things that I need help with to stay independent. I thought it might be helpful if some of my helpers and past helpers tell their thoughts about the job.

  • She was a bank specialistand, now she is starting her own business and she is a great helper too.  “Bill Picard is a great role model to me because he is a very nice and generous person. He is also very smart; I have learned a lot of different things from him that range from using different computer programs to running his two apartments buildings. Bill is very easy to get along with and easy to take care of in his everyday life. He is flexible and realistic and I feel appreciated by him. Working for Bill is a very rewarding job.” -Therese
  • She home schools her kids and she is one of my great helpers. “Bill is a patient, hardworking and responsible individual. Working with Bill is predictable in daily routines while also has some variability that arises from the demands of his role as a busy landlord. The atmosphere in Bill’s home provides a positive, calm and relaxed experience. Supporting Bill in both his personal and professional life is a fun and rewarding opportunity.” -Tina
  • He was a truck driver, a stay at home dad, has his own business and he is also one of my great helpers. “Bill really has his act together. He keeps up with maintenance on each unit in his apartment buildings. His daily routines are very simple, but when windows break or something electronical needs to be installed we both have fun with it and are laughing most of the time until it is repaired or installed, I really do look forward to coming into work..Bill really is a role model and has my highest regards.” -Brad
  • He is a teacher, father, husband and a great friend and helper since our college days. “Bill and I have been the best of friends for many years. While my role as an employee has evolved, I still very much enjoy working with Bill when I’m needed. Working with Bill is like visiting a friend. There are tasks to be done, of course, but there is also a great sense of companionship. There is also a lot of variety in the work. One day you’re doing a repair and the next you are making meals for the week. As a bonus, Bill reminds me to take life a little less seriously sometimes and the importance of a good laugh.” -Zach

Questions that you might have:

Do I need any licenses?

  • Only a driver’s license. I have my own mini-van that you would be driving.

What days and hours are you looking for right now?

  • Right now, I am mainly looking for around 20 hours per week and some hours on every other weekend. Then down the road, maybe more hours.

Why don’t you have a one full-time assistant?

  • That would be great but not very realistic. People have lives, and also get sick from time to time so having one full-time assistant has not really worked.  Also I need help with many things so having a variety of helpers is better.

Benefits:

  • You will be appreciated because you are not just a number, you are a person with wants, needs and goals just like me.
  • No paper work and no time clock.
  • I believe in incentives so if I keep doing well in my business and you are helping with it you will get bonuses.
  • If you are a traveling professional, you will get half off of your room for the first 3 months, if you stay another 3 months the room is free then if you stay another 3 months you would get a free efficiency.
  • Working one on one with a person to help him reach his goals.
  • Rewarding experience.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean criminal history, a background check will be required
  • Friendly and outgoing personality
  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions
  • Ability to pay attention to details
