Maine Youth Leadership May 20, 2010 The Board of Directors of Maine Youth Leadership invited me back for the fifth year in a row to be a Keynote Speaker at the 2010 Maine Youth Leadership Seminar. It is being held at the University of Southern Maine, Gorham Campus to a group of 120 students and 50 staff members of their all volunteer organization. The four day seminar is to promote practical skills of planning, decision-making, facilitating and reasoning to our youth. By doing activities and bringing some of Maine leaders like Governor Angus King to talk about their experiences. The Seminar Co-Chair said "last year your segment of the seminar was rated WOW on all of our surveys and was number one over all!" April 22, 2010 A professor at the Valley Community College asked me to speak to her college class, Psycho-Social Needs of Students with Disabilities, for the seventh year in a row. Some are in the Special Education Program; others are in the Speech Therapy Program But graduates of both programs most often work in schools helping students with disabilities. I have not done very much motivational speaking for the past couple of years because with today's economy, most school systems want me to come for free. So I came up with a different way to get my messages out there. Laughter is a very good learning tool, so I am starting to bring my unique style of stand-up comedy to high schools as a fundraiser for Project Grad, and to colleges all over New England. |
